Phil Rosenthal’s Favorite Restaurants in Los Angeles

Phil Rosenthal is a remarkable writer and producer born in Queens and most famous for creating the hit show Everybody Loves Raymond.

But like many native New Yorkers who entered the entertainment business, he now calls his home Los Angeles. We have become big fans of Rosenthal lately, because of his hit shows I’ll Have What Phil is Having and Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix.

If you have not seen the show it is similar, to the late Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Parts Unknown’ television series. In Phil’s version, he inspires us to travel with him as he dines on the best dishes the world has to offer.

While most of the episodes involve food in other cities around the world, the self-confessed LA lover has also explored our city inside and out and has lots of great foodie tips for us.

In one of his episodes, Phil shared with the entire nation some of Los Angeles best kept delicious dishes from The Original Farmers Market, Petit Troits, Commissary, Huckleberry, Malibu Chicken, Grand Central Market, Guerrilla Tacos, Langer’s Deli, Homeboy Industries, and more.

We did some research and in this post we bring you some of Phil’s Rosenthanal restaurant recommendations we found for anyone visiting or living in LA.

Bon appetit!

1.  Howlin’ Ray’s

Howlin Rays

Description:

Nashville fried chicken at its best with a heat level of your choice from country to Howlin’ hot! This counter only spot has amazing fried chicken sandwiches.

Their sauces are one of a kind delicious and you can choose from 6 levels of heat, pretty awesome if you ask me (although we recommend you avoid the hotter ones as they are no joke).

You can order big too to feed a whole party and get a dozen whole wings or a whole bird.  On Saturdays and Sundays, they have hot chicken and waffles.

You can find them at the far East Plaza in Chinatown. But be warned the lines can be hours long!

5.  Burgers Never Say Die

Burgers Never Say Die

Description:

Have you had one of the cities most famous smash burgers yet? If not you are in for a treat with this very yummy burger made simply and satisfying.

This is not the typical greasy join or the soulless “gourmet” burger you find in a standard sit down restaurant.

Just the opposite, Burgers Never Say Die keeps it simple but tasty with two thin patties with crispy edges covered with cheese on a buttered bun and dressed in onions, ketchup, and mustard.

Probably just like the kind your dad used to make on his grill on game day in the backyard.

Burgers Never Say Die first started as a small backyard pop up where you could only get in if you knew somebody, but now it’s a full-blown brick and mortar restaurant in Silverlake and more popular than ever.
