October 2022 Events in Los Angeles You Don’t Want to Miss

October is of course one of the most exciting months in Los Angeles as all the creatives and horror fans get excited and geared up for Halloween. On this list we have tons of entertainment, and all the over the top Hollywood style theatrics we all look forward to this time of year.

You will also find family friendly events, parties for all ages, grown ups only entertainment, themed foodie events, the best Halloween bar crawls, and many more spooktacular experiences.

Dont have the most creative costume this year? No worries, don’t let that stop you as our suggestions also invite you to check out some pretty bad-ass fests featuring delicious food, great music and awesome brews.

 


1 – Halloween Parties, LA Bars, and Speakeasies

Santa Monica Halloween Pub Crawl

Description:

Jump right into the fun Halloween spirit and find a great place for a fun night out.  We recommend you check out LA’s  hidden bars and Speakeasies, and show off your Halloween costume or get tickets to a phenomenal party.  Visit House of Spirits at Casa Vertigo in Downtown as this experience features fun craft cocktails, spooky legends and fun characters.

Halloween bar crawls are happening this year! Dress up with your fun Halloween costume and get ready for Tipsy or Treat, this fun event will take guests to speakeasies in Hollywood.  You can get your tickets through Eventbrite.  There is also the 5th annual Halloween bar crawl in LA, this year offering a $1,000 first prize costume contest.  Tickets available through Eventbrite.  Also check out all the Santa Monica and Long Beach Halloween bars and pub crawls.

Halloween Monster Night at Sunset Room in Hollywood this year is featuring DJs and live performances, also aerialists, dancers and LED robots.  Multiple dance floors, and 3 bars.  Or head towards Capture Studios Penthouse on the 59th floor of the US Bank Tower, for a Halloween party with awesome DJS and the best views of LA night life.  You can expect almost 5 hours of open bar featuring Tito’s Vodka.  You must wear a Halloween costume or formal attire with mask to enter.

2 – Where to Go Trick or Treating

Haunted Shack Torrance

Description:

Of course Halloween is great for families in our city too! Have fun visiting some of the greatest neighborhoods in LA and take your kids to show their awesome costumes.

Our first pick is Pasadena.  The shops of Old Pasadena have a long standing record for making all visitors and enthusiastic trick or treaters, very happy.  And of course all the affluent residential Pasadena areas hand out great candy and entertain with their over the top fun décor.  Eagle Rock and Burbank also have stellar reputations for filling up kids bags with great treats.

Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Santa Monica,  are also great areas to trick or treat every year.  For some of the most spectacular displays,  haunted mansions and animatronics be sure to go to The Haunted Shack in Torrance, The Rotten Apple 907 in Burbank, Filmore Graves Jack O Lantern Farm in Sherman Oaks. and Seaside Ranchos in Torrance.

Last but not least take your little ones to some of the big events in LA for trick or treating including Boo at the LA Zoo, Knott’s Spooky Farm at Knotts Berry Farm, and Disney Halloween Party at Disneyland.

3 – Theme Parks – Halloween Events

Halloween Horror Nights

Description:

Disneyland and California Adventure are all dressed up and ready for the Halloween season! Head over to Anaheim and check out all the fun decorations, see Mickey and friends wearing their super cute Halloween attire and take pics at the spectacular Hunted Mansion displaying fantastic décor like Jack Skellington decks, inspired by Tim Burton’s  Night Before Christmas. Many more activities and fun including Halloween themed snacks, fireworks, and a Main Street pumpkin fest.

Scary Farm at Knott’s is open now – on selected dates – with all its terrifying mazes, dark rides, and spooky characters lurking around.  Knott’s Berry Farm also has a great event for the whole family, and the little ones can go trick or treating around the town of Calico’s shops.  Open until October 30th, this family friendly event features Halloween decorations, fun rides and activities, cookie decoration, pumpkin patch, puppets and of course, take pictures of beloved Snoopy and the gang before going home.

Universal Studios Hollywood presents Horror Nights on selected dates until October 31st.  Your favorite haunted houses and horror tram awaits in this spooktacular Halloween time.  The park has=gone all in to frighten guests and its filled with scare zones, diabolical live entertainment, and Halloween themed food and drinks.  Some of the rides will remain open during Horror Nights including Harry Potter, and the revenge of the Mummy.

Also this year there is a special haunted house featuring the Weekend. It plays his songs with a special horror twist as you wind your way through room after room off madness.

4 –  Food and Music FestsRevel Republic Ovation Hollywood

Description:

This month brings tons of food flavors, rhythms and brews! Check out Taste of Soul on Saturday October 15th, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.  The 17th annual Taste of Soul Family Fest will be on Crenshaw Blvd. Between Stocker and Obama Blvd.  Bring your friends and family and enjoy great food and refreshments.

Of course we love Oktober Fest! One of the greatest events to get excellent beer and sausages.  There are several places you can go to like Fairplex on October 7th, and Old World Oktober Fest – Huntington Beach.

This will also be the first year of Revel Republics takeover of Ovation Hollywood (used to be Hollywood and Highland) for a massive 3 day Oktoberfest party! October 7th, 8th and 9th there will be live Polka bands, biertgartens, delcios Bavarian bites from Wolfgang Pucks catering and much more. All of this happening in the heart of Hollywood and you can feel good about your indulgences as proceeds from the event will benefit the charity Project Angel Food.

Beach, Brews and BBQ.  This fabulous charity event will be held at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, on October 19th from 2 to 6 p.m.  There will be unlimited samples of handcrafted beers, great tasting BBQ, live entertainment and auctions.  Individual tickets are $50, VIP tickets are $65.

5 – Pumpkin Patches and Mazes

Description:

One of the most popular things for families to do this time of year is visiting pumpkin patches and mazes.  Kids love picking a special pumpkin, getting their face painted with beautiful colors and designs, ride ponies, and trying delicious treats.

Our first pick is Irvine Regional Park Pumpkin Patch, this fabulous event has tons of fun activities for your little ones to choose from like face painting, cookie decorating, bouncers, train rides, hay rides, pumpkin ring toss, and pumpkin decorating.    Also there will be carnival rides and John Deere racers.  Get ready to take awesome pictures, and don’t forget to visit the Spooky Haunted House.

If you wish to visit a smaller patch closer to your neighborhood, there are several to choose from including Mr. Jack O’ Lanterns Pumpkin Patch  in West LA, Forneris Farms in Mission Hills, Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch in West LA, and Pumpkin Fun Patch in Pasadena, Del Amo Mall and Citadel Outlet.

Want to make it a fun family day trip?  Check out Pumpkin City in Laguna Hills, this is an every year tradition for many Angelinos.  This is a Harvest festival with petting zoo, puppet shows, kids rides, game booths and even costumed characters to take pictures with.

Underwood Family Farms Fall Harvest in Conejo Valley is presenting their 25th annual event this year.  Your ticket includes wagon rides, corn maze, chicken show, pumpkin patch, pumpkin house, corn stalk labyrinth (Oct 10th), giant tractor display, giant spiders, misting tunnel, hay pyramids, cotton harvester and combine slides, pig races, and live music.  Enjoy the fun themed weekends.
