Our Favorite LA Outdoor Beer Gardens

Open space, good food, a festive atmosphere and lots of beer! I think we can agree that a good beer gardens hits all those marks.

We have lots of good bars in LA so what makes beer gardens stand out among all that competition when it comes to choosing a spot for a night of drinking?

Along with their great selection of beers of course, beer gardens differ from standard bars because they typically offer a much better food menu and there is usually greenery making the décor and vibes more inviting all of which make these places the perfect spots to hang out.

Here is our list of some of the best garden beers in Los Angeles.  Places that serve great selection of beers but also have great vibes and memorable good looking surroundings plus offer a decent food menu.

You can also find sausages of course and potato pancakes.  Don’t want fast food? No worries, this beer garden has soups, salads and goulash too.

2 – Red Lion Tavern

Red Lion Tavern

Description:

This is a very well known and loved neighborhood tavern in Silver Lake, serving an ample menu of draft and bottled beers, and also ciders. They converted their parking lot into a welcoming patio for all of us to go and pay a visit, however their beer garden is located on the back patio.

Don’t expect this spot to look like the lush gardens in Munich, instead you will find a mural of old school Germans toasting beer and promotional tints from classic German breweries, that should put you in the drinking mood.

The beer garden starts at 11:00 am Sunday through Thursday until 10:00 pm.  Friday and Saturday until mid-night.

This popular drinking spot offers a great menu that includes much more than bar food.  Enjoy soups, rotisserie chicken and excellent choices of sausages.  Vegetarian choices also available.

3 – Verdugo Bar

Verdugo Bar

Description:

This spot is the exception on our list of what you would expect in a real beer garden. For one it doesn’t have an extensive food menu really but they make up for it with a monstrous selection of beers and spirits.

There is also no lush garden but plenty of outdoor seating with craft-brewery tins displayed on the wall. They sometimes have a DJ which adds to the great vibes for this gem in Glassell Park.

Though they don’t have an onsite kitchen you can expect food trucks most nights with menus that include simple but tasty bites like gourmet sliders.

Verdugo Bar is a great place to hang out with awesome neighborhood vibes so makes our list for when you feel in need for a good beer and a small bite.

And the beer selection? Of course its massive and you can find a decent amount of IPAs, stouts, pale ales, ambers and blondes.

Hungry for some bar food? Well you have lots of choices here and the quality is a step up for a watering hole. There is a large selection for wings, burgers, tacos, Asian dishes, pizza, BBQ chicken and ribs and more.

5 – Rassel Bock Mar Vista

Rasselbock Mar Vista

Description:

This little gem tucked away in Mar Vista has a bit more lush than several other beer gardens in LA making for a beautiful atmosphere when sitting outside.  The beer menu is extensive as well and has over 20 draft German beers and tons of bottled beers.

To keep things fresh the menu rotates to offer customers seasonal fresh flavors and special beer styles.  You can also get German and local wines, house-made sangrias and non alcohol drinks for those who just want to hang out outside for a bit without getting buzzed.
