City Market South lies on the border between the Fashion District and the Wholesale District, a vibrant neighborhood comprising over 100 blocks that serves as the region’s hub for fashion and apparel manufacturing and the distribution center for seafood, produce, and flowers.

The City Market South site was part of the oldest produce market in Los Angeles, and has been owned and operated by The City Market of Los Angeles since 1909.

In 2013, downtown developer Lena Group conceptualized the vision for City Market South as a destination for dining, entertainment and creative businesses, and teamed with the long-time property owner to realize the project’s vision.

The Grove LA is a retail and entertainment complex in Los Angeles, California, located on parts of the historical Farmers Market.

The Grove features a large center park with an animated fountain designed by WET Water Entertainment Technologies. Its music-fountain show plays every hour, though the feature has a non-musical program in between shows. The water’s choreography is inspired by the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.  Live shows are often performed on the grassy area by the fountains.

More attractions and activities in the Grove include the statue of The Spirit of Los Angeles, a trolley car that links the Grove and The Farmers Market, a 14 screen movie theater, shops and restaurants.
