Awesome LA Wine Tasting Experiences

Spring is in full swing in the City of Angels and that means many things to Angelenos.

Beautiful flower fields, amazing weather, Dodgers baseball, and so many more fun activities to choose from. But one sure fire hit with us #LAHACKERS when the weather gets nice is Wine Tastings!

And you know this is LA baby and we always have to do just a little bit extra.

So today we are not only going to just list our favorite spots to grab a glass of wine (which there are plenty) but also our favorite places to have an awesome total wine tasting experience!

Here is a list of some of our favorites.

1 – Rosenthal Winery, Malibu

Description:

Our first stop is Rosenthal Winery in Malibu. They offer great vibes with music being played outside and a setup that’s designed for lots of fun Instagram pics.

Of course one of the things that makes a glass of vino at Rosenthal so special is location, location, location. For LA wine lovers there may be no better place to enjoy a glass of wine than right across from the beach.

If you are looking for a fun, affordable wine tasting event in a beautiful location you want to add a visit to The Rosenthal Winery to your list.

Location:

18741 Pacific Coast Hwy

Want some eats with your wine tasting? While there is no onsite restaurant there are rotating food trucks. You can also bring your own food with you and picnic with your bottle of wine.

2 – San Antonio Winery

Description:

Next, on our list, we are hitting up and old school classic in the LA Wine Game. The San Antonio Winery was first opened in 1917(!) and to this day is still family run.

This is a fully operational winery with wine tastings, tours, and a beautiful restaurant. Its located just 1 mile south of Dodger stadium so after a game of beer and dodger dogs you can stop by for something a little more sophisticated for the pallet.

Their wines are usually highly awarded by Wine magazines and they carry exclusive offerings from their estate vineyards in Rutherford, Napa Valley, Paso Robles and the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey.

Also onsite is a delicious Italian-style trattoria Maddalena restaurant that is nestled in the winery amongst century-old wine barrels.

The menu is packed with deliciousness including homemade ravioli, Nonna’s lasagna, grilled steaks, seafood and salads, and might be worth making a trip for alone, never mind the wine!

Location:

737 Lamar St
Los Angeles, CA 90031

Lincoln Heights

The San Antonio Winery is very family friendly. So if you want to have a wine tasting experience with kids tagging along this is the probably the best choice on the list.

3 – Barnsdall Wine, Hollywood

Description:

The Barnsdall Art Park is a vibrant city park located in East Hollywood that features amazing views of the city.

But its a special recurring wine tasting event that attracts sellout crowds and wine lovers from all over the city that has LA buzzing about this spot. The popular Barnsdall Friday Night Wine Tastings has been hosted by the Barnsdall Foundation’s signature fundraising event for over ten years.

With stunning views overlooking the City, Barnsdall Art Park welcomes Angelenos that are of legal drinking age, to sip wine, picnic on the grass and watch that beautiful LA sunset. Fine selections of boutique artisanal wines are accompanied by rotating food trucks each week. Music is presented by DJs and includes several globally-themed evenings, matching the food and wine.

If you love wine and LA this is for sure a not-to-be-missed wine tasting event at an iconic cultural destination.

If you attend a Barnsdall Art Park  Wine Tasting be sure to also check out the Barnsdall Art House. You can receive a private, intimate tour of the historic home built by the amazing Frank Lloyd Wright.

4 – The Wine House,

Description:

Ok, the Wine House is actually a store to buy wine not exactly a wine tasting experience. But hear us out on why it had to make our list.

First of all, The Wine House is one of the best wine stores ever. And I don’t just mean in LA.

Their selection is just incredible and there is a valid argument that its the most extensive you can find in the entire South West region of the United States in one store.

A massive selection of interesting international and domestic wines you can browse and choose from. Its like shopping at a Nordstrom but for wine instead of clothes.

With all those choices you may find it a bit overwhelming but luckily there are lots of knowledgable staff roaming the store for folks who aren’t quite sure what vino they want.

Even though its a store if you purchase your bottle of wine here, you can take it and have it served at their upstairs restaurant. So see technically it is a ‘wine tasting experience’ and should be included in our list.

Location:

2311 Cotner Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90064
Sawtelle

If you have wine knowledge, great taste and some extra cash look for their two refrigerated specialty sections where you can find aged bottles of something extra special, some aged as far back as the 1940s!

5 – Malibu Wine Safari

Description:

There is no more unique wine tasting experience on this list and likely all of California than the Malibu Wine Safari.

It is a spectacularly beautiful place and you can take the whole day exploring its 1,000-acre ranch and vineyard.

You’ll be whisked around in an open-air Safari vehicle with frequent stops to take in the incredible scenery, taste local wines, and get up close and personal with exotic animals like zebras, camels, alpacas, and bison!

Location:

32111 Mulholland Hwy
Malibu, CA 90265

By far the biggest star of a Malibu Wine Safari Adventure is Stanley the Giraffe! Be sure you take your chance to go right up to him and snap some pics feeding him.  Don’t be shy. Stanely loves the attention and being fed!
