January 2024 is wasting no time bringing exciting events to Los Angeles, from the iconic Rose Parade and whimsical Winter Fest in OC to the electrifying music festival Calibash there is plenty to get into for the New Year.

1 – Rose Parade and Floatfest

Description:

January in Pasadena is synonymous with two iconic events: the Rose Parade and Floatfest. These vibrant celebrations draw visitors from around the world, eager to witness the breathtaking floral displays and joyous atmosphere.

On January 1st, the streets of Pasadena will come alive with the 135th Rose Parade. This annual tradition features magnificent floats adorned with millions of fresh flowers, each vying for the coveted title of “Most Beautiful Float.” 

Marching bands, equestrian units, and lively performers will also join the procession, creating a spectacle of color, music, and dazzling costumes.

The magic continues on January 2nd and 3rd with Floatfest. This beloved event allows visitors to experience the Rose Parade floats up close and personal. Stroll along E. Sierra Madre Blvd. and E. Washington Blvd., where the floats will be parked for two days. 

Capture stunning photos, admire the intricate details of each design, and learn fascinating facts about the float-building process from volunteers.  While the floats are the stars of the show, both the Rose Parade and Floatfest offer a variety of activities for all ages. 

Enjoy live music, delicious food trucks, and interactive exhibits. Kids will love the family-friendly entertainment, including face painting and balloon art.  The Rose Parade is an iconic event for Los Angeles and something everyone should try to do at least one year.

2 – Reptile Super Show Pomona

Description:

Prepare for a Slithering Spectacle!  Calling all reptile enthusiasts for the Reptile Super Show, coming to the Pomona Fairplex on January 6-7.

This two-day event promises to be a haven for reptile lovers of all ages, offering a unique opportunity to see, learn about, and even purchase a variety of fascinating reptiles. 

Step into a vibrant world teeming with reptiles from across the globe. Witness the mesmerizing beauty of ball pythons, the powerful grace of bearded dragons, and the prehistoric charm of leopard geckos.

3 – Winter Fest

Description:

There is still time to enjoy the magic of SoCal Winter Wonderland at the Winter Fest in OC.  Enjoy a million twinkling lights, dazzling decorations, and enchanting sights and sounds. Stroll through the North Pole Journey, a captivating walkthrough experience filled with magical characters and interactive exhibits.

Winter Fest OC offers a variety of activities to keep everyone entertained.  Experience the thrill of the 150-foot long ice tubing slide, or glide across the ice rink under the twinkling lights.

4 – Squid Game Experience

Description:

The global phenomenon “Squid Game” is taking over Los Angeles with the immersive experience The Trials. For all of January fans of the show 13 years old and up, can step into the eerie world and participate in a series of games inspired by the show.

The Trials offer a unique opportunity to become a player in the game. You’ll be greeted by a highly-themed environment recreating the sets from the show. The costumes, props, and set design will instantly transport you into the world of “Squid Game.”

Over the course of 70 minutes, you’ll have the chance to participate in six different games. Some games will be familiar from the show, while others will offer new challenges. You’ll need to use your skills, strategy, and teamwork to accumulate points and avoid elimination. 

As in the show, nothing is as it seems at The Trials. Be prepared for unexpected twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. The experience is designed to be suspenseful and thrilling, just like the show itself.

5 – Calibash

Description:

Get Ready for Calibash 2024, A Celebration of Latin Music and Culture.  This annual event is back and bigger than ever with its vibrant sounds and electrifying energy on January 12 – 13.  Expect top level performances from artists including Prince Royce, Young Miko, Tokischa, and many more.

This event is more than just a music festival; it’s a celebration of Latin culture and identity. The festival features a cultural pavilion showcasing the rich history and traditions of Latin America.
