The Top Places To Ice Skate in Los Angeles

Lets go ice skating! Even though it is gloriously warm pretty much all year round in LA, you can still wear some winter gloves, a hat and grab a pair of those ice skates to hit the ice!

You can experience your beloved city of Los Angeles as a winter wonderland by taking your dates or friends to enjoy the beautiful lights, ornaments and other holiday decorations as you skate around one of the many awesome outdoor ice rinks in different neighborhoods.

 


1 – LA Live – Kings Holiday Ice

 

Description:

The annual LA Live Kings Holiday ice rink, opens on November 30th and runs all the way into the middle of January 2020.  Enjoy the LA vibe, music and lights as you skate around the beautiful massive Christmas tree that stands in the middle of the rink and overlooks all of spectacular LA Live.

What makes this rink so special is of course the LA Live vibe. After all that skating exercise, you can enjoy some good food and great drinks at one of your favorite LA Live restaurants or bars.

Or maybe even catch a Lakers, Clippers or Kings game next door at the Staples Center!

Being at LA Live and next to Staples, the home of our pro hockey team, this is the main skating event put on by the Kings. Buts its actually only one of three they officialy sponsor.

The other 2 are located in Westfield Valencia Mall and Westfield Topanga Mall. So if LA Live is to far from you these two are an option as well!

 


2 – ICE at Santa Monica

Description:

Every year the city of Santa Monica constructs its magnificent ice rink for the community to enjoy some ice skating right by the beach!

The rink is 8,000 square feet, so you have plenty of space to skate around solo or with a large group of friends.

You can also host a birthday party or even take skating lessons.

Ice at Santa Monica is open from November 1st 2019 until January 20th 2020.

Don’t know how to skate and worried about looking foolish? No worries. You can book private or group skating lessons with the Randy Gardner School of Skating.

They will be holding lessons here so you can jump on that ice with the confidence of a pro!


3 – Ice Skating Pershing Square

Description:

From November 14th 2019 to January 20th 2020 the Ice Rink Pershing Square welcomes visitors of all ages to join a fun winter fitness activity.

As if an Ice Skating rink in the middle of downtown was not cool enough the Pershing Square rink is big on special themes. On Thursdays DJs, (except for Thanksgiving) there will a DJ spinning and they have a special, ‘Learn to Curl’ program on November 16th, December 14th and January 11th as well as a Silent Skate Party on December 19th.

As we mentioned they have lots of cool themes at this rink. But if you are Disney fan make sure not to miss ‘Let It Go Tuesdays’!

This is specially dedicated to the hit movie Frozen and every Tuesday the ice rink lights will be mostly blue.  Also music from the movie Frozen will be played during this skating time.

So ‘Let it Go’ and ‘Lets go skating’!

 


4 – The Rink, Downtown Burbank

Description:

Need to get your skating on near the Valley? The charming town of Burbank and their downtown ice skating rink is right in the heart of the city, surrounded by all the restaurants and shops.

This is a great family friendly ice skating, so don’t worry if you are not a professional ice figure skater.

In fact for kids and beginners they even have a training seal so you can skate and have fun without falling on your butt!

The Burbank rink will be open from December 12, 2019 until January 5th 2020.

5 – Christmas at the Queen Mary

Description:

The graceful and beautiful Queen Mary is true royalty when it comes to holiday festivities and entertainment bringing all kinds of fun family options.

This year they are once again bringing back their popular Christmas event which includes a full ice skating rink.  Christmas the Queen Mary begins on November 29th 2019 and runs through January 1st 2020.

Enjoy all the fun at the outdoor North Pole Village and ice skate away around a spectacular 26ft Christmas tree.

After ice skating, don’t forget to get aboard the Queen Mary express train or the Grand Carousel.

And of course be sure to check out all the beautiful Christmas decorations.
