There are dozens and dozens of Halloween celebrations and experiences across Los Angeles so we wanted to help you narrow down your choices to some of the best and most unique. 

This is your Ultimate Guide to Halloween Events in LA, that’s right, Halloween season is on, and we are excited! And in 2024 there is even more fun than ever. 

We have suggestions to events for all ages, that include family friendly activities, and terrifying experiences only for those bold souls willing to explore their dark side.

 


1 – Horrorcon

Los Angeles is popular for hosting some of the most thrilling and immersive events in the entertainment industry, and to prove this right our first suggestion is Horrorcon. This year, the City of Angels will once again transform into the City of Nightmares as it welcomes horror enthusiasts, creators, and fans alike to celebrate all things eerie and macabre.

One of the highlights of Horrorcon is the exclusive screenings of horror films, including new releases, cult classics, and rare gems. This year, the convention will feature several world premieres, giving attendees the chance to be among the first to see the latest and greatest in horror cinema.

Whether you’re into psychological thrillers, supernatural horrors, or gory slashers, there’s something on the schedule to satisfy your darkest cravings.

This celebrity convention and horror exhibits welcomes all ages.  So wear your very scary costume and immerse in this experience filled with terrorizing creativity.

2 – Brick or Treat Halloween Legoland

Legoland Brick or Treat

Description:

For this suggesting we go about 90 minutues South to Carlsbad. Because beginning on September 14th Legoland welcomes all the little spooky visitors to take part in their very famous Brick or Treat Event.

This event is on weekends only starting on September 14th, so make your reservation online to participate and take all the little ones in your family to  Brick or Treat Monster Party.

The event offers a mix of Halloween fun and LEGO® magic, making it the perfect destination for families with young children. The park stays open late, allowing guests to experience the Halloween festivities under the stars, with all the lights, music, and decorations adding to the spooky atmosphere.

Experience the thrill of LEGOLAND rides with a spooky twist, including the Disco Dragon Coaster. And all the other wonderful – limited time only – attractions including the Wacky Witch Trail, But the fun goes way beyond the trick or treating, and the spooky coasters!

Come and be entertained by the awesome Zombie Cheer Crew and Monsters of Rock playing rock n’ roll.  This family friendly event is sure to entertain everyone and shows that even the little ones can have fun during the spooky season.

3 – Your Favorite Theme Parks Ready to Scare

Halloween Screams

Description:

Of course we are known for our theme parks and every year the Halloween celebrations get bigger and bigger.

First on the list is Halloween Screams Disneyland.  Get ready for another frightfully fun Halloween season at Disneyland! The popular Halloween Screams event is back and bigger than ever, kicking off from August 23rd and continuing through October 31st.

Halloween Screams features a spectacular nighttime show that takes place at Disneyland Park, transforming the skies over Sleeping Beauty Castle into a dazzling display of lights, fireworks, and music. The show features classic Disney villains, beloved Halloween characters, and spine-tingling special effects.

Your favorite host, The Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, will return as the master of ceremonies, guiding guests through this hauntingly fun experience.

Next stop for Halloween fun is Universal Studios Hollywood.  The terrifying adventure of Halloween Horror Nights begins on September 5th through November 3rd.  This year’s event promises to be the most terrifying yet, with a spine-chilling lineup of haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment that will leave you screaming for more. 

Lastly, Knott’s Scary Farm welcomes you to a place “Where Nightmares Never End”. You and your kids older than 13 will be spooked by their thrilling attractions and over 1,000 horrifying creatures lurking in the park. 

Starting on September 19th, Knotts will be offering a perfect blend of terror, entertainment, and fun for horror enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike.

4 – Fright Fest Six Flags

Fright Fest Six Flags

Description:

Six Flags is also serving up the terror with Fright Fest. This year they are also introducing several new haunted mazes that are sure to challenge even the bravest of souls. Each maze is designed to immerse you in a world of horror, with detailed sets, spine-chilling soundscapes, and terrifying actors who are ready to make you jump out of your skin.

Fan-favorite mazes from previous years are back with new twists and surprises to keep you on edge. Classic attractions like “Willoughby’s Resurrected” and “Red’s Revenge” have been updated with fresh scares and more immersive experiences, ensuring that even returning guests will face new challenges.

Expect a total of 11 haunted houses and 9 scare zones, also many of Six Flags’ most popular rides will operate during Fright Fest, but with terrifying twists.

Experience the park’s coasters and attractions in the pitch black of night, with added special effects and surprise scares that make each ride even more thrilling.

5 – Nights of the Jack

Description:

Nights of the Jack in Calabasas is back this year! The popular outdoor, walk-through experience features thousands of hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, illuminated art installations, and immersive displays that bring the spirit of Halloween to life.

The experience is known for its stunning creativity and artistry, making it a must-see for both locals and visitors alike.   Each year, the event transforms King Gillette Ranch into a glowing wonderland, where every twist and turn reveals a new and exciting Halloween-themed surprise.

This beloved and popular event begins on September 27th, but just so you know tickets have been selling since August 12th, so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance to secure your spot on your preferred date and time.
