With society slowly opening back up, we can finally look forward to those big, exciting events that Los Angeles has long been known for.
So to get you excited about what in store, here are some events that are happening in and around Los Angeles this year.
1 – LGBTQ+ Pride Night
Description:
Among the most popular pride events in the US, LGBTQ+ Pride Night is coming back this year. LA Pride’s first in-person event since 2019 is being held in partnership with the LA Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on 11 June.
Fully-vaccinated participants will also be able to buy special event packages that include tickets to the game against the Texas Rangers and an exclusive Dodger Pride-themed shirt, as well as an invitation to come onto the field to watch the first Friday Night Fireworks show of the season!
There’s no better way to show your support for the Dodgers, and all the beautiful people who make LA so great!

2 – LA Indie Film Festival
Description:
Established in 2007, the LA Indie Film Festival provides a great opportunity for independent filmmakers to showcase their art. Accepting entries from filmmakers around the world, it’s become one of the most prominent film events in the US.
This year’s LA Indie Film Festival is set to run from 7 to 17 October and will be held at the 80-seat Let Live Theater in Los Angeles. Locals and travelers alike can enjoy a great selection of features, short films, TV pilots, and even web series and music videos.
Plus, it’s a great way to discover budding filmmakers!

3 – Bonus: LA Comedy Festival
Description:
The LA Comedy Festival is also being held this year, from 11 to 21 November. Past festivals have seen participants go on to win Oscars, sign network deals, and even join the cast of Saturday Night Live.
So if you’re looking for a few laughs, it’s definitely worth checking out.

4 – Mid-States Poker Tour Championship
Description:
California already boasts some of the biggest poker rooms in the world, and this year, it’s also hosting the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) championships. It’s one of the biggest poker events in the US, featuring a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool and drawing hundreds of players every year.
Last year’s main event took place in Iowa and was attended by over 500 people, becoming the largest No-Limit Hold’em tournament in Iowa’s history. And this year’s event in California is set to be just as big!

5 – San Diego 619 Party
Description:
To celebrate the reopening of San Diego and to say goodbye to quarantine restrictions, the city of San Diego is throwing a huge 619 Party – named after the 619 area code and the date of the first reopening weekend!
In partnership with some of the best businesses in San Diego, the event gives visitors and locals alike the chance to experience the best that San Diego has to offer from 18 to 19 June.
There’s an opening party at the TORO Nightclub from 6:19 PM, and venues throughout the city will be offering discounted specials and live events.
