For that situation we love to recommend visiting one of these awesome splash pads. You can be sure the kids will have a great time splashing and cooling off to escape some of the summer heat.
For this list we have gathered some of the most popular, and fun splash pads in LA and nearby areas. At these outdoor venues you can play like a minion, fire spray canons like a pirate, or simply run through some of the fun public water pads in your neighborhood.
1 – Super Silly Fun Land Universal
Description:
Don’t leave your sunscreen at home when visiting Universal Studios Hollywood in the summer. And although most people definelty come for the amusement park rides be sure to bring a swimsuit and towel for your little children to cool off at Super Silly Fun Land. This super fun Minion themed splash area is designed for all ages and will entertain your kids with over 80 water play features.
You can sit back and relax in the shaded seating area that surrounds the splash pad, while watching your kids running through water sprays, colorful oversized rings, and climbing up fun towers using stairs and nets.
There is a big bucket drop which is a very popular feature here, and also water shooters everywhere. Bathrooms and changing rooms are conveniently located on the spot. So next time you come to Universal in the Summer be sure to prepare to get wet!

2 – Buccaneer Cove
Description:
Buccaneer Cove is one of those places that makes you want to be a kid again. Its one of the thematic areas of Castle Park. Buccaneer Cove is not a water park but a pretty great elaborated pirate themed splash pad and water playground structure.
Your kids will have a great time on the four levels of family water play including 5 water slides, spray loops and cylinder spray fountains. Of course like good pirates, they can shoot water using awesome spray cannons! This is the perfect place to cool down summer heat in Riverside.
Grown ups can have a relaxing time in one of the lounge chairs, or make it a fun day and reserve an entire cabana. Since Buccaneer Cove is located inside Castle Park you can also check out some of the other areas like the Amusement Park, the Mini Golf or the Arcade.

3 – Seaside Lagoon Redondo Beach
Description:
What do we love about this spot in Redondo Beach? Well, pretty much everything. First of all, it is a Seaside Lagoon which makes a great spot for awesome pictures with picturesque backgrounds. A clever man-made lagoon using sea water that is then chlorinated before entering the lagoon and then de-chlorinated before heading back into the Harbor. Pretty cool right?
The water here is warmer compared to the ocean, so kids love it even more! Great water play area, water slide and a sandy beach for sun bathing. You can have a party here too you just have to reserve a table and BBQ, and you are all set.
The lagoon is open seven days a week from 10 am to 5:45 pm until September 5th. The cost is very affordable as well with it only being $8 for adults’ and $6 for kids.

4 – Kidspace Children’s Museum

Want to offer your very young kids a hands on learning experiences while they can still have some fun? Kidspace in Pasadena is an awesome museum with tons of learning activities for kids. Also, you’ll be glad to know that your little ones can cool down from the heat while visiting the museum in the summer time with some very entertaining and educational splashing areas.
Arroyo Adventure is one of the most beautiful sets in the museum, there are 12 areas within Arroyo Adventure to give your child a chance to appreciate nature and to learn about our landscape. At Interpretive Arroyo, kids can follow a stream down to the catch basin. Be sure to bring a change of clothes, and a towel for this hands on exhibit. Oh and yes, there will be mud too. Have fun kids!
Another great water feature at this museum is Splash Dance Fountains. Here you can expect your toddlers to chase the fountains as they spurt and they may even dance along to the rhythmic water feature. Also, the fountain releases fog, which is another great way to keep cool in the heat.

5 – Best Neighborhood Parks with Splash Pads
Description:
Kids love to meet with friends and head to their neighborhood splash pads, and parents love the fact that it doesn’t cost a penny! Lets start with the Grand Park, this 12 acre awesome park in the middle of DTLA welcomes Angelinos to some of the best cultural events in the city. It also a beautiful splash pad area for kids. It is conveniently located right next to Starbucks so parents can enjoy a refreshment while watching their kids having fun, running around the water and chasing the fountains.
If you live in very dry areas chances are your splash pads may not be working due to drought restrictions. This is your chance to take a trip to the Coastal side of SoCal and let your little ones splash around. Check out Alondra Park in Manhattan Beach Blvd, also the city of Santa Monica has several splash pad parks including Virginia Ave Park, and Tongva Park. We suggest you check out the splash pad at Annenberg Community Beach House, this is such a unique and fun place, with stunning views and a playground with splash pad is very fun for the little ones.
