The Ultimate List of Best Oyster Bars in LA

 

Lets face it, taking a 6 hour trip for freshly caught amazing oysters at Tomales Bay, is not very convenient.

And lets be honest. For as incredible a food scene as we have here in Los Angeles we are not exactly known for our Oysters. So for all of us oyster lovers in Southern California, we have to do a little more research to find the best reliable sources for slurping on a tasty oysters and calm our cravings.

But never fear. While we don’t have places with the reputation of Boston when it comes to oysters we do have some gems tucked away in different parts of the city for delicious oysters right here in LA.

In this list we gathered for you some great spots that provide not only fresh oyster flavors but also fun experiences. An many of our choices also come with a very good deals!

 


1 – The Oyster Gourmet

Description:

Part of the fun of going out for oysters is the overall experience and at this spot you get remarkable ambiance, colorful décor, awesome views, tons of character, amazing happy hours and much more.

Our first pick recommendation for getting great oysters in LA is at the Grand Central Market, this is because besides the food being delicious, the vibes and energy reminds us what eating in Downtown Los Angeles is all about.

Diversity, experiences, and delicious food.

The Oyster Gourmet is right in Grand Central Market and is a staple of great oysters you can eat right here in LA. Because of the prime location its also fun for gatherings with friends and a couple of beers.

They also continue to offer their popular OYTOGO, a platter of oysters to go.  This original idea is meant to hold for few hours freshly shucked oysters on a bed of ice.  Their delicious menu also include clams, shrimp, sea urchin, and some raw fish. For a great time on oyster night in the heart of DTLA we highly recommend.

2 – ETA at Highland Park

Description:

It is the awesome deal of $1 dollar oysters and the rave reviews that makes ETA the go to spot in Los Angeles for delicious oysters.  Happy hour is from  5 to 8 pm daily and that’s when you can get that awesome deal. (times may change so check their website)

This spot located in vibrant area of Highland Park is lively and fun, sometimes with live music and always with a large list of cocktails.  But the fun doesn’t stop with great flavors and the great prices at this location, they also have also have some awesome arts shows and entertainment.

So head over if you’re looking for a good time while enjoying those amazing oysters for just a dollar head over to Highland Park.

Open everyday except Sundays, kitchen from  5 to 10 and bar until late night.

3 – King Fish

Description:

If you want to get special oyster deals and still be in a beautiful place that also offers amazing fresh and seasonal dishes, look no further than King Fish in Long Beach.

This attractive and large restaurant offers you a wide menu of fresh oysters brought to you from East and West.  They are fresh, tasty and served with delicious sauces.  Their fabulous menu will seduce you to try one of their many savory dishes and refreshing drinks.

Stop by or make a reservation! This restaurant has the perfect ambience for that intimate gathering with your friends or family and is also in a great area of Long Beach that’s packed with eateries and great energy.

Open daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

4 – EMC Koreatown

Description:

For anyone who loves seafood and lives in Los Angeles it wont come as a surprise that EMC Koreatown has made our list. It is also no secret that when it comes to oysters EMC restaurants in LA offers some of the best happy hour prices and menus.  Their cocktail and beer happy hour is also phenomenal, so easy choice to put it on our list.

EMC in Koreatown is not just an oyster raw bar, it is a Koreatown experience at its best with busy, loud crowds every day from 4pm-7pm while they are offering oysters for a dollar.

Don’t worry if you miss happy hour menu, you can still get a great deal on the all day specials and get Chef’s choice oysters for only $2.25, and don’t forget the cocktail to go with it.

5 – Playa Hermosa Fish and Oyster Co.

Description:

Gorgeous Hermosa beach is one of the best places to spend an entire day,  visitors can enjoy the pleasant ocean breeze, beautiful panorama, restaurants and all the designated areas for biking and skating.

If you happened to be somewhere near this beautiful area and want to get some oysters, look no further than Playa Hermosa Fish and Oysters Co. This restaurant has a large menu filled with amazing dishes, but their true specialty is their raw bar, so expect great oysters.

The restaurant is right on Hermosa beach, just feet away from the sand one of the best places to go when hanging out in the South Bay.  This spot is a little more trendy and a little more expensive than most on our list but you will get a delicious meal with the perfect ambiance.

It can get a bit busy but you can always make reservations.  Cheers!
