Best Places For Apple Picking Near LA in 2020

 

Apple picking in LA has been a traditional fall activity for many Angelenos for a long time.  This is a great way to spend some fun outdoor time for families, kids, and everyone who wants to taste some delicious locally grown apples.

Right now in 2020 with all the limited activities to do, apple picking has become even more popular.

Here is our list of some awesome spots where you can find some good apples and spend some time outdoors on the farm lands.  Enjoy!


1 – Rileys at Los Rios

Rileys at Los Rios

Description:

Riley’s Farm has been a favorite for a long time, and is very popular for its educational day trips such as The Civil War Adventure, The Gold Rush Adventure, and more.  At Riley’s, you will find beautiful fields where you can pick blackberries, strawberries, pumpkins, pears, and of course delicious apples.

Currently, (November 2020) Riley’s restaurant is not hosting indoor dining but you can still treat yourself to their bakery items and renowned pastries including their delicious apple pie. As you can imagine something this delicious goes fast so we suggest you order your pie in advance.

They also offer a full lunch menu through their take out window.

They are open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 p.m.

2 – Willow Brook Apple Farms

Description:

Another great farm on our list is Willow Brook Apple Farms and their animals have been very popular for all the city children who come out to visit the farm.  This place has been running for decades and has some of the best fresh apple cider.

Although the u-pick apple is coming to an end since by now most apples are already gone, you can still get some delicious fresh cider.

Come and check out and hand crank the cider press and watch how your fresh cider is made and packed for you to take home, or drink right there at the farm.

3 – Stone Soup Farm

Stone Soup Farm

Description:

This cute 6-acre property has apple orchards and great seasonal gardens that make it very popular, in fact, on busy days you may have to wait in line just to enter the farm.

From September to November, this farm offers a variety of apples for you to pick and take home.

If you don’t make it to u-pick, don’t worry, you can still enjoy the cider or delicious meals with local flavors at their on-site restaurant.

Also, the farm’s shop carries a variety of natural body care products, produce, and fine foods.

Got time to play? There is also a kids craft station, interactive kids garden, and archery games for older guests.  Check out their Facebook page for daily updates.

4 – Snow Line Orchard

Snow Line Orchard

Description:

Have you ever had cider mini donuts? If not,  you got to visit Snow-Line Orchard.  These delicious golden brown treats are a hit, they are served hot and sprinkled with their house-blended cinnamon sugar.

Snow-Line Orchard is a family-owned apple farm where you can get so many fun treats, including artisan balsamic oils, local honey, and of course picking apples and berries.  They also make their own wine and cider.

Take a much-deserved break, bring your loved ones, and have a picnic at this farm.  Enjoy the views, and surrounding nature.  And don’t forget to try those unique and tasty cider donuts 🙂

5 – Parrish Pioneer Ranch

Parrish Pioneer Ranch

Description:

This is an awesome gem of a farm that is also located in Oak Glen. They go above and beyond and carry varieties of apples that you can only find here, like the Gravenstein, and Pink Pearl.

Also for a unique treat, you can try the Arkansas Black which is only available from mid-October until supply lasts, so hurry up and get some or put on your list for next year.

One of the things people love the most about this place is their attention to customer service.  You can order ahead, they will have your order ready.  They also keep you up to date in case a product is starting to run low so you won’t miss out.  Don’t you love that kind of attention to customer happiness? I know I do.

Although they are known for their delicious apple cider they also have a menu offering more tasty treats including apple butter, and wine.  Parrish Pioneer Ranch is definitely, a fun farm to visit.
