1 – Celebrate Music in LA

Make Music LA

Description:

Attention all music lovers! The month of June always brings tons of opportunities to be part of music fests and events in LA.  Our first recommendation is for you is Make Music LA.  Billed as a worldwide celebration of music and its power to bring communities together, this is an amazing celebration of music that offers opportunities for all participants to access free music lessons, and engage in fun community activities.  Make Music LA will happen on June 21st, and there will be performances in public venues all around the city.  You can check their website to attend a venue or register for a class with the list at the link here. https://www.makemusicday.org/la/listings

One of our favorite Summer traditions is concerts at The Hollywood Bowl. They always bring the best in Summer concerts every year and it all kicks off this season with the Jazz Festival.  Besides the amazing 2 day concert this year they are also holding a special exhibition “Where Jazz Meets Hip Hop” that starts before the concert at 12:30 PM. All guests will get to explore the history and relationship between jazz and hip hop.  There will be vendors, art exhibits, and photography displays.  And of course one of the most popular annual concerts every year, the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival starts at 3:30 pm and has concerts on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th. The lineup is curated and  presented by Kamasi Washington and Herbie Hancock. Another very cool thing the Hollywood Bowl is doing this year is called “CYOP” Create Your Own Package. With a CYO package, you can build your own package of three or more concerts, while saving on single-concert ticket prices and no per-ticket charges! Here is more information on Hollywood Bowl CYOP.

Mas música? If you cannot get enough of music concerts in the Summer we have a few more suggestions for you. The Newport Beach Jazz Fest on June 2nd and 4th, the OC Music Fest on June 16th to 18th,  Free Live Jazz Fridays at LACMA, and the popular free concert series in the heart of DTLA at California Plaza in DTLA.

2 – Father’s Day

Father's day The Point

Description:

June also brings with it that very special day for dads and there are plenty of cool opportunities to show them a good time on Fathers Day in Los Angeles.  We have some sensational, unique, and fun suggestions for great places to take your dad or grandpa, or both, and treat them to activities geared just for them.

Our first recommendations is Tee time! Take dad to hit some golf balls at a fun driving range like Top Golf and Sports bar in El Segundo, or The Islands Golf Center in Anaheim.  For miniature golf lovers you can enjoy a free event in El Segundo for dads and kids. The Point outdoor shopping center has a great way to spend a fun day with their special Father’s Day Mini Golf.  Or take your golf loving pops to Potion Putt a fun, unique pop up  thats available for limited time only. It is in a secret location in LA so after you get your tickets and the spot is revealed take dad out for a fun Wizardry mini golf adventure.

Does your dad love the casinos? How about a Casino Father’s Day! Many of the resorts and casinos in LA are featuring fun activities, offer freebies and fun brunch and dinners on Father’s Day, plus other special events.  So take dad for some good cigars, whiskey or his cocktails of choice and let him indulge in some fun at the casino.  Two of the most popular within driving distance of course, are Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula or Morongo Casino in Cabazon.

Plenty of dads love sports so for those who love a live game day it is always a fun way to spoil them. We know for Summer sports in LA our number one recommendation is the traditional Father’s day celebration at Dodger Stadium.  Go watch our Boys in Blue for one of the best sports experiences in Los Angeles and a guaranteed fantastic Fathers Day if dad is a baseball fan.
