August 2022 Events in Los Angeles You Don’t Want to Miss

Here is your list of fun things to do in Los Angeles for August 2022! Our city once again is serving up plenty of Summer entertainment, music, food, comedy, shows and so much more.

Hang out with your family and friends and maybe some of your out of town visitors who love to visit in the Summer and explore around LA to hit up some of these awesome events happening this month.

And of course because its Summer there are also plenty of outdoor activities for everyone!


1 – Food and Drink Fests

Bruery Fest 2022

Description:

Jerk Fest is on my fellow Angelino’s.  All of you who like everything JERK like chicken, shrimp, and pineapple, you must come to the 6th annual fest in Exposition Park.  The welcome launch party is on Friday August 5th from 9 pm to 2 am and for adults only.

On Saturday August 6th is the Afrobeat from 5 pm to 11 pm, tickets for this adult all inclusive drink event can be purchase online only.  And Sunday Roots Reggae welcomes all ages from noon to 10 pm.

A perfect Summer combo? BBQ and music! Come on down to music Fest in Fountain Valley Sports Park for great BBQ dishes.  This family event welcomes everyone and all children 12 and younger get in for free.  Enjoy live performers, drinks and good food while the youngest guests will enjoy magic shows, balloon twisting, games and carnival rides.

We also have a suggestion for you Brew lovers!

First up is the 14th annual Invitational Bruery Fest in the OC. The event is on August 13th and you can enjoy unlimited pours from 75 of the best craft beer and alcohol producers! For true beer lovers this is a cant miss and besides the next level beer choices there will also be plenty of entertainment and live panels.

The Bruery 14th Annual Invitational. 

You can also get your beer fix in the LBC as Long Beach welcomes everyone 21+ to come over on August 20th to celebrate the 10th Taste of Brews Event.   Expect live music, craft beers, ciders, seltzers and kombucha.

And last but not least The Bloc DTLA is having a Whiskey Fest on August 19th.  Featuring live music, appetizers and small bites, and whiskey samples.  Come on over and meet distillers,  try new labels, and sip some good whiskey and fresh cocktails.

2 – Griffith Park in August

Brew at the Zoo

Description:

LA locals love Griffith Park all year round, but in the summer even more as this amazing place has great activities for us all.  Get your picnic ready and head to Dell at the top of the Old Zoo.  There you can enjoy theater under the stars Wednesdays – Sundays at 7 pm until September 4th.  All ages welcome!

Brew at the LA ZOO is happening on Friday August 12 from 7 to 11 pm.  This grown up only event, invites you to explore the zoo like never before as you sample beers and ciders from local breweries.  There will be music, food and pop up animal keeper talks.  Your $70 Standard admission includes a limited edition cup for sampling from your choice of over 40 breweries.  Designated Driver $40 ticket includes a souvenir cup for unlimited soft drink refills.

Looking for a memorable place to take your wine lover significant other to dine?  Sustainable Wine + Dinner Series at the LA Zoo is your way to go.  Get your tickets online for this one of a kind event on August 4th, in which you and your other half can enjoy 4 course menus under the stars, plus excellent wine.

Another event happening at Griffith Park is Cars and Coffee.  Automotive artists, photography and design talents meet at Griffith Park – Merry Go Round Lot 1.  This very low key casual gathering is happening on August 28 at 9:00 am. It welcomes all car lovers and it is a great way to meet new people, take great photos and have another reason to enjoy the Griffith Park.

3 – Classic Car Shows

San Marino Classic Car Show

Description:

Car shows are always popular in the Summer with tons of fun food trucks, music, and some times visitors can even win prizes or help a charity.  There are several classic car shows happening in August.

Lets start with San Marino Classic Motor Weekend.  This luxurious event happening on August 27 and 28, brings to display exotic and beautiful classic cars.  Visitors can attend free exhibits and also purchase tickets for events including Symphony of Cars Gala which benefits the Cancer Support Community in Pasadena.

El Segundo Main Street Car Show is inviting everybody for a fun summer day on August 20th.  Expect mesmerizing classic cars, live entertainment, and great food and drinks available in the restaurants and breweries.

Also, we invite you to check out American Legion Huntington Beach car show.  This is their very first annual event, featuring food, music, prizes and of course classic cars show.  This event is family friendly and it benefits Huntington Beach veterans Resource Center.

4 – Outdoor Entertainment

Cinespia LA State Historic Park

Description:

What is Summer in LA without outdoor entertainment?  Check out some excellent outdoor movies, this month like Street Food Cinema’s  presentation of Catch Me if You Can that you can catch at LA State Historic Park on August 6th at 5:30 pm.

Also on August 6th SFC presents the Goonies at Westdrift Golf Course.  My Big Fat Greek Wedding is showing at Will Rogers State Park on August 13th.  Guardians of the Galaxy is showing at The Autry Museum on August 20th.  And our beloved La La Land will be on August 27th at LA Historic Park.

Haven’t made time yet to attend outdoor concert series?  That ain’t right Angelinos.  There is still time though, so head over to one of our best recommendations here including Grand Performances at California Plaza, a free concert series that comes with a great line up of artists.  All ages are welcome.  Also check out Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park, One Colorado Summer Concerts in Pasadena, and Summer Nights in Descanso Gardens.

And last but not least, go for a laugh to Venice Beach Outdoor Comedy Show.  All comedians will remain unknown until show time and so is the location! So how do you know where and who?  The element of surprise is part of this experience and you get the details the day of.

5 – Jazz Fests

Rainbow Lagoon Park Long Beach

Description:

We love Jazz music! And this month there are some great Jazz fests going on.  The Long Beach 3 day music concert and Jazz Fest is on August 12 to 14 at Rainbow Lagoon Park.  This awesome event is welcoming everyone who loves traditional, smooth and Latin jazz.  If you’re a fan you will sure be pleased to come and see some of your favorite artists like Robert Glasper, and Sergio Mendes.

Hollywood Bowl Sunday August 28 at 6:30 pm.  Jazz under the stars, laidback guitars, and smooth sounds, now that’s a nice Sunday evening.  This event will feature George Benson, Boney James and Lalah Hathaway.

The city of Gardena also invites everyone to come and celebrate the city’s 19th annual Jazz Fest .  Expect a great line up of artists including Braxton Cook, Harvey Mason, and many other talents.  This event will be at Rowley Park in Gardena on Sunday August 28.  Don’t miss out!
