The first week of a new year feels almost like a very long Monday, if you know what I mean. Holiday decorations have been put away, the bank account has shrunk after all the shopping and we need to endure all the new diet changes from our new year’s resolutions.
Thankfully we are here to cheer you up with some suggestions for great events that are happening this month to make sure you kick off the year right.
So keep your head up and read on to find out what cool things are happening in Los Angeles for January 2022.
1 – Visit Mystic Universe at Wisdome (until Jan 31st)
Description:
There is still time to check out the awe inspiring, immersive experience, Mystic Universe happening at Wisdome Los Angeles! Wisdome is this incredible and massive Art park in the Downtown LA Arts District.
Their current exhibit Mystic Universe has been one of their most popular ever but this month is the last time you can catch it, as it ends on January 31st. Prices start at $50 for 1 ticket and couples $85. A ticket for a group of 6 is $200 which gives you full access to the exhibition and the 90ft Maha Dome.
That may seem a little high for an art exhibit but we think its worth it because it really does transport you to another time and space and its a unique experience you cant catch anywhere else.
This incredible exhibit gives visitors a chance to see reconstructed ancient monuments through art and modern technology inside massive bubble domes.
Its one of those things that’s pretty hard to do justice in words and you have to see and experience for yourself to appreciate. So don’t miss out and visit wisdome.la to get tickets before this exhibit goes away.

2 – Head East to the Mountains and See Some Snow
Description:
We have met plenty of Angelinos who enjoy snowboarding, skiing, tubing and all that snowy good stuff that’s not typically associated with Southern California. But those of us who live here know that we don’t only have access to incredible beaches but also these winter time activities with a same day drive to the mountains.
If you want join these LA snow birds and take a break from the daily urban life and adventure into some Winter fun, then you are in for a treat because we have some great recommendations for you.
Our first recommendation is Mammoth Mountain. Although it isn’t as close as some other spots, Mammoth mountain is popular for its striking views and also for having some of the best skiing and snowboarding conditions in all of California. Get ready for some real snow, pack accordingly and have a great time as you tackle a day at Mammoth.
Our next recommendation is Big Bear, this beautiful place is known by all and that’s because its packed with plenty of activities for everyone. Here you can find resorts with tubing, sledding, snow play areas for the little ones, and comfortable cabins to spend an entire weekend of fun.
Some more snowy fun recommendations spots for you are; Mt Baldy resort and Lake Arrowhead.

5 – Go For A Winter Hike
Description:
Yes, winter is great time for hikes in Southern CA. For one thing we usually don’t have to worry about blizzards or super heavy rains. Another reason we like hikes in the winter is its usually much less crowded than the Summer months when sun loving Angelinos pack the trails. You have a great chance of having a popular trail all to yourself so you can breath in that fresh cool air in solitude.
Since it doesn’t get too cold all you should need is comfortable hiking boots/shoes and a good jacket and you are set to hit the trails. Of course, do some research in case its much colder on the day you plan on going so you can prepare properly.
Bring out those pair of water proof hiking boots that look new because you rarely get a chance to wear them! Why not get those beauties out for a stroll, and also get on that New Year’s resolution of hiking more in 2022.
Our first pick is a very easy hike for the whole family at Citrus State Historic Park. Not only is this a hike that should be very family friendly you can also take a tour and get some citrus tasting.
Another great hike in the winter is San Gabriel Peak, this hike should is considered moderate to more difficult so be sure to research before bringing anyone who is not an experienced hiker. San Gabriel Peak is a good looking trail that looks especially beautiful with a bit of snow on it.
Want more suggestions? Try Strawberry Peak, Sandstone Peak, or Ice House Canyon Hike. Be sure to research each one and go enjoy the great outdoors this January!
