Fairfax District is one of the best areas to hang out for a day in LA and there are many great places to visit here. This district has a mixture of old and new buildings and tons of great eateries which attracts many people of different ages with diverse agendas and interests.

1 – Eat at The Original Farmers Market
Description:
One of our all time favorite places to eat at while visiting this part of the city, is the Original Farmers Market. This historical landmark has some of the best flavors and textures of the city tucked away inside.
It’s popular, so expect crowds, busy tables and lots of great smells everywhere you walk by. The bustling of lots of people is part of the charm for some people but if you want to beat the crowds then get there before 11 am.
Right when they open is the best time to get there in our opinion, because you can actually appreciate all the shops, restaurants, cafes, candy shops, and bakeries without standing in any lines.
There is lots of variety so be daring and try multiple spots! We absolutely love Pampas Grill Churrascaria, Singapore’s Banana leaf, Moishe’s Mediterranean Restaurant, Phil’s Deli, and Roxy and Jo’s Seafood Grill and Oyster bar.
But don’t let us stop you there, explore more spots and find amazing French dips, juicy burgers, sushi, noodles, green juices, spicy fried chicken, BBQ, house-made ice cream, and of course don’t leave without dessert from two classics; Bob’s Coffee and Doughnuts or McConnell’s Ice Cream.
Another great thing of course about the Farmers Market is its just steps from the Grove so you get 2 amazing LA experiences in one trip.

2 – Play Date at Pan Pacific Park
Description:
This popular 28 acre park is a gem within our city and right in the middle of the action of Mid City and the Fairfax District. People who live in the area love to come here to relax, take a walk, workout, play basketball or visit the community center.
Gorgeous and spacious this awesome park is located directly across the street from the Grove. So if you just finished eating at several places nearby like the Original Farmers Market (in our first suggestion) or Erewhon health food market, then come over to the park to walk it all out.
Active Angelinos love to come here and run the long path that provides challenging inclines and stairs, to get all the cardio goals in for the week.
While others of us may prefer taking a mellow walk on the path while enjoying the trees and grassy areas. And like any great park there is plenty for kids to do as well with the great playground.

3 – Grab Lunch
Description:
We are talking about food again because there are so many great places to eat in the Fairfax District! Tons of diverse restaurants is one of the things that entices people from all over to come down to this area and hang out. No matter how busy you are, if you are anywhere near the area there is always time to grab lunch, dinner or snacks at one of the several tasty spots in Fairfax.
In the mood for a savory sandwich? Regularly voted best pastrami in LA is the one and only Legendary Canter’s Deli. This classic spot that has been feeding Angelinos since 1931 and continues to offer tasty dishes 24 hours a day every day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and fresh baked goods, this spot has it all.
If you are looking for a modern spot with a fresh menu and a dog friendly patio, then come on over to Plan Check Kitchen + Bar. This spot is fun, and it brings a large menu that features American comfort food
For more casual bites and bunch spots we recommend you visit Cofax. It opens daily from 7:30 to 1:30 pm and until 3 pm on weekends, this spot is well know for their coffee and good breakfast and lunch menu.
Last but not least, stop by Prime Pizza for a tasty New York style, everything here is fresh and flavorful.

4 – Window Shop on Melrose
Description:
Melrose is one of the most popular shopping areas for tourists and locals alike. Most people are drawn to the area because they love that there is so much energy and vibrancy while walking and window shopping around here.
During your visit, you will also spot many places where you can stop and indulge in a decadent snack or even a big meal and drinks of course. Expect to find treasures that will inspire you to re-decorate your home, and also unique and vintage clothing that you have not seen anywhere else.
But not all the hidden gems are in stores. Melrose is also an area jam packed with some of the best murals and street art in Los Angeles. Some people will go down there just to take pictures with all the incredible murals on the walls and store fronts.
Melrose continues to be that place everyone should stop by when visiting LA.

5 – Visit the Holocaust Museum
Description:
The Holocaust Museum in LA commemorates and honors the victims and survivors of the holocaust and it welcomes visitors to learn more details about the impact of one of the worlds most horrific events.
When you visit the museum you will be transported into a historical journey and will learn in detail about the history of the holocaust through exhibitions, educational programs, tours, artifacts and conversations with survivors.
The museum is located in the northwest corner of Pan Pacific Park (suggestion #2 in this article), admission is always free for students and California residents but general admission is $15.
You can choose to park at The Grove or you can also find meter parking on Beverly Boulevard.
