Visit the Best Real Spots from La La Land

The romantic movie musical La La Land, released in 2016, captivated viewers hearts all over the world but of course holds a special place for us LA Hackers because it was filmed in our beloved city of Los Angeles and it truly feels like a main character in the story.

You can spot so many popular places, more than 60 actually, while you watch Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone falling in love while chasing their dreams in LA, in this award winning film.

In this article we take you on a tour to some of our favorite La La Lands filming locations.

All of these spots are must visit if you love Los Angeles and fun for you and your friends, or taking someone special with you for a romantic fun date.

1 – Angels Flight

Angels Flight Railway

Description:

Mia and Sebastian share a kiss at the shortest railway in the world, Angels Flight during the movie’s Summer musical montage scene.  After the ride up in the 118 year old funicular railway which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in our city , the couple breaks into a spontaneous dance.

In the film, Angels Flight looks almost as beautiful as it does in real life and shows off why it is such a popular LA landmark.

This iconic spot is of course on our LA Hacker top 50 so make sure you stop by and take some memorable pics at this location.

Even on days in which you can’t ride on Olive or Sinai, you can still get some pretty impressive and even romantic pics.

2 – Mt. Hollywood Dr.

Mount Hollywood Drive

Description:

Want to tap dance in Mt. Hollywood Dr. like  Sebastian and Mia?  This remarkable scene showed off some the views our city is so famous for while the two stars tapped danced to the movie composer’s original song “A Lovely Night”.

This is another awesome spot to take some memorable pics, and also a great place to go for a romantic one on one hike.

You may not immediately recognize this area because of the magic of movie production as they transformed it for the scene including adding street lights and a park bench.

This makes it tricky even for some locals, to recognize it at first glance.

3 – Griffith Park

Ferndale Griffith Park

Description:

Gorgeous Griffith Park and its surroundings, make several appearances during this film.  Some scenes were shot at the Park Fern Dell, others  at the incredible Observatory.

Sebastian and Mia take a walk through the park and the scene shows beautiful flowers and nature as the couple is smiling and holding hands.

Another spectacular scene is the one inside the iconic Observatory where Sebastian and Mia danced a waltz, in the movie you see the couple rising and dancing in mid-air, and stars are projected in the ceiling.

Now that sounds like an unforgettable and fun date to me!

4 – Hermosa Beach

Lighthouse Cafe Hermosa Beach

Description:

Another remarkable scene in the movie is when Sebastian takes Mia to The Light House Jazz Club so she can hear a live Jazz band set. The location in the film for this scene is indeed a real Jazz club of the same name in Hermosa Beach.

After the club scene we get to see more of Hermosa as Sebastian is shown taking a walk through the Hermosa Beach Pier and singing ‘City of Stars’.

You may have noticed the blue lights in the film, which are not really part of the pier, but rest assure the location is in fact Hermosa Beach.

Some rumors tell that the city is actually considering adding the lamps to the pier in the future.

5 – Colorado Street Bridge

Colorado Street Bridge Pasadena

Description:

In this very romantic scene, Sebastian and Mia are strolling along the beautiful historic concrete arch bridge in Pasadena.

In the film they treat us to a scene where we can appreciate the magnificent beauty of the Colorado Street Bridge at dusk, illuminated with glowing globe lamps.

In the movie’s scene we can also see the gorgeous mountain ranges in the background while the couple enjoy their walk.

This is such a beautiful spot to visit in Pasadena and we highly recommend it and especially if you are looking to recreate a romantic evening stroll like in the film.
