We may not have the typical winter weather in Los Angeles but don’t let anybody ever tell you we don’t have the Christmas spirit!
Angelenos love the Holidays and all the classic wintertime activities. In this post we narrow down some of the best Christmas time activities in Los Angeles for 2019.

1 – Christmas At The Grove
Description:
The Grove is famous for being a high-end outdoor shopping mall that features trendy retailers, amazing restaurants and great entertainment amid a bustling promenade.
But this popular destination really comes alive during the Holidays! The already gorgeous Grove transforms into a Christmas wonderland with beautiful lights, decorations, life size gingerbread houses and visits from Santa.
And the star of the show is the massive 100 foot tree that travels from Mt. Shasta and comes to life magically each night with over 15,000 lights and more than 10,000 festive ornaments!

2 – Venice Canals Holiday Lights
Description:
The Venice Canals offers one of the most beautiful walks you can take anywhere in LA. But when its all lit up for Christmas a stroll through the Venice Canals Christmas Lights is another spectacular way to get into the holiday spirit.
Make sure you go through the canals at night during this time of the season to embrace the Christmas spirit and you will be delighted to find that there is even a light competition among the houses for the best decorations.
If you check out the Christmas lights on the bridge be sure to park a few blocks away and walk over so you do not get stuck in traffic.

If you want to experience more Holiday fun in Venice be sure to check out the annual Venice Christmas Boat parade. Its wacky fun and for 2019 is happening on Saturday December 7th.
3 – Enchanted Forest of Lights
Description:
Enchanted Forest of Light happens at the beautiful LA Arboretum in Arcadia. The interactive, nighttime experience is unlike any other Holiday event in Los Angeles.
It features about a one-mile walk through breathtaking lighting installations throughout the beloved Gardens.
There are many large-scale light displays to marvel at, many of which you can interact with, manipulating the lights and sounds with movement.

The Moonlight Forest Lantern Art Festival runs all the way from November to early January. But the dates right around Christmas (Dec 20–23, 26–28) is when its really busy! You can see the full schedule and buy tickets here: MoonLight Forest 2019
4 – LA Zoo Lights
Description:
It has only been around since 2014 but the LA Zoo Lights is already one of Los Angeles favorite Holiday traditions.
You enter the Zoo at night but all the animals are sleeping. Instead you are greeted by glowing illuminated animal art installations.
In 2019 the LA Zoo Lights welcome you to a magical evening journey that includes the world’s largest illuminated pop-up storybook, a magical disco ball forest, giant glittering snowflakes, and a twinkling tunnel filled with dynamic swirls of color.
L.A. Zoo Lights is one of the most unique and Instagram worthy Holiday light shows you can attend.

Make sure to buy your tickets in advance as the crowds to LA Zoo Lights have grown with its popularity.
You can also time it by going earlier in the season where you will not only avoid the bigger crowds but the tickets are a typically a little bit cheaper as well.

5 – Grand Park Winter Glow
Description:
Recognizing how popular these public Christmas light displays are DTLA’s Grand Park has gotten into the action. 2019 is only the second year of their Winter Glow but its already one of the best in the city.
And this year the downtown nighttime public art will display will transform the space with the latest in light and projection technology.
It is also expanding to offer an even more immersive experience that will cross from Grand Park over to the The Music Center Plaza next door.

Grand Park is FREE, FREE, FREE! You can attend the month long event at any time by just walking through the area.
But of course you want to go at night to appreciate all those dazzling lights.
